New press, Father’s Day gifts and projects

If you follow Igloo on Twitter (@iglooletterpres) you already know that today was an exciting day.  Our new press arrived and it is big!

I am not going to post any pictures here now . . . I hope that you will stop by on Saturday and see it in person.  What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than to visit Igloo and check out cool old printing presses.  Igloo is now home to presses dating from the 1890s, 1920s, 1940s, and 1970s.

You can try your hand at setting type and running the Vandercook press or printing with photopolymer plates on the Pilot press on Saturday to create your own notepad with letterpress cover.  This is a pretty spiffy gift for just $5!  Make one for Dad and for yourself!

In addition to the notepads you will find a great selection of hand-sewn books, and letterpress cards and posters.  I am excited to announce that Igloo is also selling maps by collaborators These Are Things.  The original world map in aqua and the Columbus neighborhoods map are both in stock.

And of course, you can even pick up a Father’s Day card to go with your gift.  We have two great cards by local designers

These Are Things and Paper Remnants

printed by hand at Igloo.
